in reply to Underprivileged Nodes

I think I have the inverse problem. I post some silly Meditation or Discussion item which ends up in my top ten nodes-- but then I post several good, sharp Perl answers and the combined rep on all of them doesn't hold a candle to the "meta" nodes. Is this because not everyone reads all the answers (I know I don't) and most everyone reads most of the "meta" nodes? Or is this because no one wants to vote on answers for fear of upvoting a wrong answer? Or because they have no way to tell by looking whether an answer is suitable? I assume it's mostly the former, but it always makes me wonder when I see that. :)
