"In Perl culture ... you're expected to stay out of someone's home because you weren't invited in, not because there are bars on the windows."The thread you linked to in your post seemed to have a quick back and forth which ended with the 'perpetrator' acknowledging that he was unaware that it was considered in poor taste to front-page one's own node. It looks to have been a worthwhile exercise. The original poster learned something about the culture here, and so much the better.
