When I connect to perlmonks, before logging in (I do not keep a permanent cookie...), the page that is displayed is quite stale.   I believe it dates from November 4th or so.

After logging in, the current contents are displayed.   But the page content ought to be current for everyone.   Otherwise, the site appears to be moribund.

    Howdy!

Perhaps you are behind a caching proxy of some sort that is *really* stale. I've seen things like that happen at work.

    yours,
    Michael

Yeah, I think you’re right.   At $HOME, I definitely don’t see the same behavior.

i second that observation. so i just ignore what's displayed until i log in. i used to have a perm cookie (a while ago) and even then it was showing old posts until i clicked the Seekers or other link. mind you i'm on ie6 at work..i think i liked Netscape Gold better.
the hardest line to type correctly is: stty erase ^H

I have to admit, this looked odd... since I do have a permanent cookie, I simply loaded a different browser that doesn't have the cookie, and I can't find an out-of-date monastery gates page for perlmonks.org, www.perlmonks.org, perlmonks.net, or www.perlmonks.net ... are you sure your browser cache isn't playing games with you? (Or maybe the expiry on the gates is playing games with your cache?)

I just tried with 2 browsers that don't have PM cookies. Got the current Monastery Gates.
