in reply to I am a M/F/Other (take two)

Sigh...and I was hoping that we had de-masculinized (is it a word?) this broad computer science field. Or is it that only Perl is suffering from this male/female imbalance while the rest of computer science has become more balanced? And if so, why?

Based on experience from my college days and some years after; Women tend to be picked up on in geek areas. So that drives some women away and while we have more of a gender balance than 20 years ago, it still exists. So you cut a smaller number even further. Another theory is that male geeks search out more of the same while female geeks have a broader scope of social skills?
