For explaining how recursion works, let's go to a real life example: When I was a child, there was no Wikipedia, so we had to resort to books. Now, when you browse through an encyclopedia, there are many interesting articles about interesting topics, and most of them reference to other interesting articles. When you start with "Computer", you might be led to "programming", then to "algorithms" and via "cryptographic algorithms" finally arrive at something related to WW2, and in the end you forgot how you ended up there, or even where you started.

Here we see the first difference between humans and computer. For Wikipedia (or perlmonks, btw), you can use the back button.

Now, to come closer to our subject, you could open Wikipedia in your browser, make it <not> full screen, and select an article
