You could research automating Libre/Openoffice. Re^5: Converting doc to txt without WIN32::OLE Super Search etc. Also the quote you attribute to be from Spreadsheet::ParseExcel is actually from Spreadsheet::WriteExcel.

    ok thnaks i vl go thru it... FYI: http://search.cpan.org/dist/Spreadsheet-ParseExcel/lib/Spreadsheet/ParseExcel/SaveParser.pm Scroll down to "Known Problems". Parse Excel says what i quoted earlier.
