I sometimes sorely wish that folks could disavow themselves of the notion that “I take XP personally,” because I don’t. (Gasp!)

You protest too much, methinks, insisting, again and again and again, that you don't care about XP and being downvoted, to the point that folks naturally suspect the opposite. For example:

Re: "As software grows up" .. what do you do?: "Discussions are welcome; down-votes are merely annoying. Please refrain."

Re^3: Fork Results in thousands of processes: "Do you downvote my posts both as yourself and using some sock-puppet account? Just curious."
Re^3: Help with multiple forks: "Responding if I may to BrowserUK’s not-so-Anonymous reply (and his exceedingly discourteous but not-unexpected downvote)"
Re^3: Fork Results in thousands of processes: "And, yeah, I am perfectly aware that you have earned many times more experience-points than have I, so I am not presuming that this discussion is “among equals.”"
Proposal: eliminate down-votes: "a source of personal annoyance (but nothing more) for me ... I have a Rhett Butler approach about such trivialities."

If you are truly indifferent to downvotes, why repeatedly put forward the suggestion of removing them from this site?
