Jein° (Yes and No!) It's true that Perl is not dead and still in a position many others envy. IMHO part of the decline is the positioning and the problem many have to justify Perl. What I observe is a kind of delusion of past grandeur, like the big European colonial powers experienced after the second world war culminating in decolonisation. And this meant an economic decline and lost if clout. While the French were capable to forge a new alliance with former enemies in the European community, did the Brits continue to ravel in their exceptionalism and their imperial approach. But the average Brit is far richer now than in Imperial times and many people still want to migrate there. What I mean is that we need to readjust to the new reality, play our strength and find new allies instead of focusing our energy on building huge fleets of carriers trying to stubbornly defend lost territory.
Cheers Rolf
