Maybe have a look at [EMACS] "Emacs as Perl IDE" - Abstract for YAPC::EU 2016 (there is also a YT Video) > to have two tiled terminal windows open side-by-side. For instance: My IDE is parsing error messages for file and line, so I can quickly jump there.
