I strongly endorse the use of Komodo editor. I've been using it for years, long before it became freely available. It is a true IDE with great editing features and very cleanly integrated run and debug. I use Strawberry Perl at work where I just need a stable Perl and BerryBrew with various version of Strawberry Perl at home where I need to mix and match different versions and builds of Perl.
