Letting people "just get on with it" isn't always the best idea
I felt that the arguments had been put forward and it was time to proceed.
If we have to wait for everyone to agree then we'll never get beyond perl5.
The idea of never getting beyond version 5 doesn't really bother me as perl5 provides everything I need - I even have workarounds for the bits I don't like.
However, I was actually excited when the perl7 announcement was made, and I was looking forward to seeing it released and finding out just how it differed from current perl.
I'm not so excited any more.

I'm all for a bump of version number from 5 to 7, provided it doesn't cause big problems and adds something. As Karen Etheridge states:
”We haven't really gotten seriously into the discussion yet of what perl 7 will include. All that's happened so far is one person made a premature announcement of what they wanted, (parts of) the community objected, and we backed up and created a governance process.
I certainly want perl 7 to be more than what has been so far ascribed to it, to make the major version number change truly worthwhile."
other comments in that thread elaborate on this problem, as do posts on p5p.

"one person made a premature announcement of what they wanted" -- meaning the pumpking who managed the last few releases of Perl? Talk about setting someone up. So much second-guessing by armchair pumpkings. People like Matt Trout who just lob verbal grenades are the problem here, not people like Sawyer who was simply trying to do the job he was volunteering for (didn;t see anyone else step up to relieve him...)
The way forward always starts with a minimal test.

An example Regarding the closure of rt.cpan. Fortunately enough push back occurred and something was done about it.
To be clear, rt.cpan.org got new life not because people pushed back, but because some people stepped up to take it over. Without action, no amount of verbal pushback would have changed a thing.

"These 3 sentences produce contradiction."
You quoted two sentences. Where's the contradiction?
"I don't think marto calls balls and strikes impartially."
I don't understand the sporting/game analogy. Can you point out anything to back up your claim I've been less than impartial in some way?
Update: Reworded last sentence for clarity.
