I don't like smilies in the middle of a paragraph (most of the time) ;-)

The real problem appears when a smiley is replaced by an icon in the wrong place by a forum software... This does not look nice in a phpBB post:

    I compensate for ascinine graphics interpeters trying to detextify my emoticons by adding a space (which I fully expect to see thwarted by some self-righteous prat developer in the future):

      Ok, but how do you add a space to a statement like use Data:☺umper; and still have working code?
