I'd argue that because

sub foo ($x) { ... }
[download]

Is a shorthand for:

sub foo { my $x = $_[0]; ... }
[download]

Then:

sub foo (Int $x) { ... }
[download]

Ought to be a shorthand for:

sub foo { my Int $x = $_[0]; ... }
[download]
