What? No poutine?

I'll also take this opportunity to curse the nasty trend towards battered or coated fries. They are a vile and hideous creation and worse they make me wonder what the vendors are trying to hide underneath. I long for the good old days when places like Harvey's actually peeled their own potatoes in a machine right next to the deep friar, but no more.

I, too, looked for poutine on this list and was disappointed.

But according to your link, we'd then have to change the title to "Fries are best in..." (which still works for many of the choices but not as well, especially for "salt and pepper") (:

            - tye (yes, I'll take some poutine and a side of fries)
Not really, it could say "Fries are best with... Gravy and Cheddar Curds!" mmmm, Poutine....want some please...

"Nothing is sure but death and taxes" I say combine the two and its death to all taxes!

I agree the machines that peeled the potatoes and then turned them into a slinky like think which was then cut and cooked. They were the best! Choose your own sauce.
On the West Coast, In 'n Out Burgers still slices potatoes into fries on-site. I think they're only out here, though.

      There is no sig.

In 'n Out doesn't slice the potatoe until you order! They are great fries, you are quite correct. The best reason for staying in California. There are now about 4 places in Arizona with them, instead of just California and Nevada. Pick up a free booklet there on where to find the joints. I've been to about 80% of all In 'N Outs.

Silly Canadians, they actually showed this on MTV (probably the only thing I ever learned on it, not that I watched all that much).

Um, MTV is American... and I am skeptical that MTV could even find Canada on a map ;-) (that jab directed only at MTV, not the USA).

Update: OK I see how belg4mit's statement could be interpreted either way. Thanks for correcting me. Incidentally, while on the topic of poutine, you have to go to Quebec to get good poutine. Otherwise, salt & vinegar is the way to go. :^)

      ..Guv

I know MTV is American. That was meant to be parsed as :

Silly Candians(Re: gravy, cheese, and fries), I heard about this (odd dietary habit) on MTV...

        :-D

They weren't trying to teach anybody anything, they were at some musician or X-games games type person's house and he decided to make a snack.
