Approval Nodelet Changes

If you're level six or higher, you should now be able to see and use the standard consideration voting options in the Approval Nodelet when you visit a node that has been considered.

However, Kanji has reported some errors which I have not been able to reproduce. If you have any problems, I'd be most happy to hear about it.

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

A limitation in PM prevented the "keep"/"edit"/"delete" radio buttons from working at the same time as the "Approve"/"Front-page" check boxes (so the presence of the former disabled the latter). I've removed that limitation. This was why earlier today you could try to front-page a considered node but it wouldn't work.

editors can now use the approval nodelet to "unconsider" a node after they've "fixed" it (if it has gotten at least 2 "edit" votes). Update: or at least 4 "keep" votes (to clear out nodes that will never be deleted, and probably shouldn't have been considered in the first place).

Only editors can "approve" (or "front-page") a reaped node. With the overzealous reaping we've been having, I can see a use for the former, but doubt the latter will be used (but I trust editors' judgement) -- presumably to be followed by a one of the gods unreaping the node.

(Plus several holes and minor bugs with considering and unconsidering were fixed.)

    Hi there,

I like the new approval nodelet. It works OK for me - any chance Kanji's bugs could be posted so we can have a go at reproducing them.

Also, one side effect might be to reduce the NTC voting traffic, as most people would use the nodelet and only vote on the one considered node they are looking at. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

The in-nodelet voting options don't consistently work for me: after picking one of the choices and hitting submit, the Approval Nodelet still shows the voting options instead of the vote breakdown. Other times (or if I vote via Nodes to Consider), it will work just fine.

After talking with ar0n, I suspect it may be a browser issue (IE6), but where it's been so inconsitent I haven't been able to switch to something else when I see it happening.

Also, one side effect might be to reduce the NTC voting traffic, as most people would use the nodelet and only vote on the one considered node they are looking at. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

For me, it's a good thing: I don't check Nodes to Consider as often as I mean to, so this way I actually vote more frequently and in a more timely manner.

I really like the new Approval Nodelet, but I have one (very very minor) issue with it. When a node is being considered, the voting options appear in the following order: edit, keep, delete, nada.

The order changes once you have voted to the following: keep, edit, delete (e.g. Keep/Edit/Delete: 0/14/0)

Would it be possible to make the order the same?

    Thanks,
    --PotPieMan

    Hey, ar0n.

This is pretty weird... I only see the approval nodelet in this very page - in this post of you. Even now - in the "comment on..." page it's gone again...

Can you help? I've already added and removed the approval nodelet several times to see if it was some kind of cache bug, but that didn't worked. I've even tried acessing the site from other machines and the results are the same...

    TIA,

    my ($author_nickname, $author_email) = ("DaWolf","erabbott\@terra.com.br") if ($author_name eq "Er Galvão Abbott");
