Brackets in node titles

I searched around and asked in the chatterbox, but was unable to find much of an answer for this one. crazyinsomniac did tell me that this problem is already somewhat known however.

When I view Newest Nodes, Craft, or Worst Nodes I see the wrong title for html/file security cgi [revisited]. When I view the node or talk about it in the chatterbox the title shows up correctly though. Obviously this is from the brackets in the title doing their "magic." It seems like this is a relatively new thing, probably changed after Plight of the Left Square Bracket ( )

No, this bug has been here longer than I have.

Titles need to be HTML-escaped. This small change needs to happen in a large number of places. Of course, this will cause • to appear in the title of any recent node by merlyn (which is already true for a lot of people using older browsers).

It has been on the to-do list for a long time but it isn't a high-priority item.
