Not all of us read newsgroups, so I thought you might be interesting is seeing this discusssion that is currently going on in comp.lang.perl.misc.
For whatever it's worth, the starting context of the c.l.p.m thread, before it took a tangent, was merlyn taking someone to task for posting a Perl problem both in c.l.p.m and in the Monastery, without saying so in either place.

All I have to say about this is: Please don't feed the troll. | [reply] |
Hm, I'd like to say in such cases "Get lost dumba..!! and read the specs!!".
It's in fact a pitty that some who claim to be ubercoders do not know the basics of the protocols which they attempt to utilize to generate the "coolest" websites and -services they've ever seen.
So, to say it shortly: I am sorry for people being paranoic due to their lack of knowledge. And this sounds rude, yes, I know, but who offends in such way, just out of couriosity can not expect to get a warm welcome.
Btw., I have no sense of humor in this and I really dislike the way some of the "we_are_cracking_for_a_better_everything_
for_free_world_
and_my_whatverOf{browser,OS,programmingLanguage,Daddy)_
is_better_than_yours_
cause_I_refuse_to_get_to_know_whateverOf(it|him)_
folks" want to tell me that I am an idiot and should better learn whateverOf(..).
Besides, not 5 years ago, the user calling himself "Godzilla" would have lost access to the internet for supplying a wrong email address as "godzilla@stomp.stomp.tokyo". And I still vote for punishing email fraud in such manner.
Have a nice day
