Yes, but that would turn off all the nodelets everywhere but the frontpage. That would be fine with me, except that the chatterbox nodelet is used to signal that someone replied to your node.

Now, I could just ignore whatever is replied to my posts, but that wouldn't be very friendly. If there's a way to be notified one of your posts was replied to without have to use a nodelet, I would certainly like to know.

That's a fair enough point. The only way I can think of would be to check your message inbox on a regular basis.

Coming back to my original point, however, I wouldn't like to see advertisements appearing on the printed version of pages, and I am concerned that if we make alternative interfaces too appealing to users then we are risking shooting ourselves in the foot by loosing out on ad revenues and referrals to Pair (if applicable). Not to mention the disruption to the whole idea of a community ...

This is exactly why I refrained from making a post asking for &displaytype=print to be appended onto the end of all links in the print display so that people could not navigate around through the print interface.

Changing the layout doesn't remove things. ;-) I don't mind losing the advertisement, or the nodelets when viewing posts. But I like being notified about followups at some place, so removing the nodelets everywhere isn't an option for me (and I don't tend to visit the front page, the only page for which you can get a different set of nodelets).

As for the CSS, neither the FAQ nor the user settings page provides a link with useful information (e.g. the structure of the page), and I don't feel like reverse engineering.
