About 5.8 for Windows (AS)

Maybe not really news, but I was looking for any schedule for ActivePerl going 5.8 at their site, and found this in their mailing list archive: http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/activeperl/1302925 - basically it says nothing production level until October, and that is just a guess too.

Seems we will have to wait a while for this to come, but that was about what I was expected. There will however be betas before then, if anyone really wants to play with it. :)

You have moved into a dark place.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I don't like having to wait so long to try out a new perl version so I compiled 5.8.0 myself with mingw32. It's working OK, I've installed lots of XS modules on it, and I've even managed to get CPAN.pm (mostly) working.
