I just emailed Rob Oostendorp, Blockstackers' (AKA The Everything Development Compony's) Advertising Master, about this, so hopefuly it'll get taken care of soon. It may improve the astetic and speed of the site, but it looses us the advertising revenue that lets us pay (some) of the bills, and pisses off pair who hosts us for free. (Presumably; I don't have any inside information.)
Oh, and BTW, while looking for the correct person to mail about this, I ran across adfu's perlmonks page, which gives all the current ads, where they point, and a total number of impressions, and impressive 21,053,788.
Confession: It does an Immortal Body good.

Fixed. Took a look at the current banner ads running on PM and figured out why we were getting errors. It turns out that you guys sucked up all of our scheduled ads through 9/30/02! Kudos! So I'll be dumping a fresh batch of ads up tonight. Sorry guys, that's what happens when you work / surf too much. If this ever happens again just shoot an email off to me (Robo).

I think it's an improvement. ;-)

I have first noticed this sometime around Sunday, 25th of August, 13:00 GMT
Looking at the HTML source you can see that Error: appears instead of the <IFRAME> or <LAYER> tags (depending on your browser), so the problem is not with Perlmonks themselves but rather with the advertising server at http://adfu.blockstackers.com/servfu.pl?l,perlmonks.
While surely this might be seen as an "improvement" because you don't see advertisements, but I wonder how this would affect Perlmonks advertising revenue (they are getting payed for this, right?). Reflecting on this I believe it might be of interest to the community to get this thing fixed ASAP in order not to suffer any revenue loss.
Just my thoughts.
Oh, I am an economics student so things like revenues are usually on my mind ;)
