so does $year++ mean that year gets incremented by 1 ?? or 2 ?

The ++ notation is common in many languages, like C, C++, and Java, and means "increment by one." Hence, C++ is C, but incremented by one. Pretty funny, huh? I tell you, I laugh every time I think about that.	[reply]

i dont know pearl but varible++ in C increments it by one	[reply]
