On a whim tonight I've created a PerlMonks web store on CafePress complete with especially bland products. Time to fire up Photoshop or the Gimp and get creative. Submit images for a particular product to me at vroom@blockstackers.com

I'll take entries I deem to be of sufficient quality and add them to the store. The meager profits made will be added to the Perl Monks fun. The real fun comes in being able to buy your own PerlMonks thong, or pair of boxers.

The store in its current sad state is available at http://www.cafepress.com/perlmonks;

Or, if you prefer your links working, http://www.cafeshops.com/cp/store.aspx?s=perlmonks. Now where was that PM drinking game? I think I'm supposted to down a case.

Update: The URL appears to work now.

I would love a t-shirt or hoodie (closest thing to a robe) with 1st Monasterians on it.

I tried making a hand-written calligraphic version of it (with Erudil's approval), but I never finished because I'm just not that good of a calligrapher. I have a typeset version that's not too bad. I'll ask Erudil and share it with you if he's OK with it.

here is an image for a clock based on Camel Time. It's a fairly literal interpretation; I just took the gimp and put the code on top of their template. Next up is an "I heart perl" / "Use strict;" thong. Not that I think anybody will buy it, but I just think it'll be cool that somebody (read: us) offers it. I'm still trying to figure out why it's a "winter seasonal product", though. Oh, BTW, it's also a huge (185kb) PNG -- not recommended for those on modems.

My Test Store now has that clock and a thong, for preview. Don't buy from my store, though, buy from the PM store instead. The images for the thong are at front and back.

Here are some t-shirt ideas myself and fellow programmers were kicking around a few weeks ago.
"Perl programmers do it many different ways"

"Perl, the Kama Sutra of programming languages"

or a shirt with about 15 cartoons of camels fornicating in different ways. we've all seen similar shirts with other animals.

note that i am about as visually artistic as a camel, so i dont have any working prototypes to submit!

Ok - it's been three days, and I can't get this image out of my head. Unfortunately, I have no skill at all with The Gimp or Photoshop, so I offer this in the hopes that some enterprising monk will give birth to a logo from it.

I keep picturing the image of a monk - hooded robe, arms folded, face obscured from view - and here I'm thinking along the lines of "Holy Grail", but without quite so much head banging.

This monk, though, should have a give away - a camel's nose poking out of the hood.

I'm thiking either a head shot of a single camel-monk, or maybe a group of them - either way, this is a cut-and-paste job if I ever saw one.

Presented for the public good. :-)

    Peace,
    -McD
