I think the most important one is missing. That would be more hiring so we would not have to wear so many hats at work. I think a lot of us work in departments that have had significant layoffs and are having to do way more work than normal. At least that is the case where I work. So I would say an upswing in corporate spending would make going to work way more agreeable.

    JSchmitz, that sounds awfully familiar. Now that our develoment group has been somewhat trimmed I now have have the "pleasure" of maintaining PL/SQL and Java code as well as Perl. To make life a little more interesting our DBA left last week to go onto bigger and better things. Rumor has it that there will be no replacement because "the Programmers can do it" :-(

    Hear, hear. When the economy improves a lot of companies are going to find out a hidden cost of making people wear too many hats - poor employee retention. Many people are just sitting tight until things improve, then they are outta there...
