Apparently it just wouldn't be a day on PerlMonks if no one asked this question. (*sigh*)

Please see the thread "Sorting Files with Numbers", for just one of many treatments of this topic.

Also please read the Perl FAQ, Section 4, "How do I sort an array by (anything)?", and study the section on Sorting in the Categorized Questions and Answers area of this site.

Some people refuse to believe they aren't the first person to have this problem.
