forcing creation of html doc in activestate

nop has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi. I'm using activestate perl. When installing pure perl modules from CPAN which lack .ppm files (eg install via perl makefile.pl, make, make test, make install), the modules' pod docs do not show up in the activestate html doc tree (of course).
Is there an easy way to instruct ppm (or something else) to generate the html from the pod (pod2html) and link it into the activestate doc tree? Thanks --

    perl -MHtmlHelp -e "HtmlHelp::MakePerlHtmlIndexCaller()"
    Rebuild whole docs
    perl -MHtmlHelp -e "HtmlHelp::MakePerlHtml()"
      Using my relatively default installation of ActiveState Perl, this does not work.

        What build of ActivePerl are you using? What error message was reported when you tried the code above? Missing module? (Can't locate HtmlHelp.pm)

        With a little searching I found this email in the archives of an Activestate email list

        ActivePerl no longer uses that module to generate it's html. It won't work with any ActivePerl 6xx builds. Starting with ActivePerl build 617, you can use the following command line to rebuild the html toc: perl -MActivePerl::DocTools -e"ActivePerl::DocTools::WriteTOC()" Note that the html toc is now regenerated automatically after installing/removing a module with ppm. Any new doc pages included with a ppm package are now included in the html toc. ds

        On my computer I did a

        perl -MActivePerl::DocTools -e"ActivePerl::DocTools::UpdateHTML()"

        Aeems to work for me but use at your risk.

    I used to use ActivePerl::DocTools, heck I even wrote ActivePerl::DocTools::TOC::HTML::Podmaster, but I still wasn't satisfied, and after ActiveState commented out all the pod in ActivePerl::* modules, I wrote Pod::Master. It's better.

    MJD says you can't just make shit up and expect the computer to know what you mean, retardo!
    I run a Win32 PPM repository for perl 5.6x+5.8x. I take requests.
