I was born in 1976. I graduated from İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Mathematics Engineering Dept. with a thesis on Quantum Cryptology.

Currently preparing to study cognitive science at Boğaziçi Üniversitesi. I'm interested in how human mind works, how language competence and performance is realized as well as natural language processing.

As for professional life, I've been working for İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi in eMBA project since 2000. The team which I'm a part of is using MS based technologies like Active Server Pages which make me consider Perl as a much better alternative every day ;-) I also work as GNU/Linux instructor for the same university's Linux certification program.

After programming in BASIC (Sinclair Spectrum ZX), C/C++, Java, VBS‎crip‎t, JS‎crip‎t, PL/SQL, T-SQL I've started to learn Perl a few months ago. Since then some part of my brain (ratio changes dynamically and chaotically) is always related to Perl :) (I must admit that it is a pity I was not interested in Perl back in 1994 when my faculty's computer lab. was already running Slackware Linux and there were a lot of Perl documents around)

My office computer runs MS Win 2000 Pro but my home computer rather prefers Debian GNU/Linux.

When I'm not busy coding I voluntarily work as an editor for fazlamesai.net, cazci.com, ileriseviye.org and an open source collaborative translation project at fazlamesai.org/ceviri.
