Programming for Linguists: Perl for Language Researchers seems to be the first book focused specifically on using Perl for linguistic research. You can read a critical review here.

The title can be misleading, though.

You would think that it teaches some methods on how to apply Perl to language research. Instead, it will only teach Perl to beginners, who happen to be language reasearchers.

Don't expect to find any earth shattering technique there. There is no mention of CPAN language modules, for example, so if you are already gifted with RegExes, split, substr and index, you can save the expense.

Given this and your other post, I take it you've been to use Perl recently?

It's probably not necessary to repost items from there here, since it's linked directly on the main Perl News page anyway.
