Hello, my name is Alex, and I love statistics -- father and grandfather were both actuaries.

I'm an Aries in Region A, and I was wondering if we could see some standard deviations. The median is cool, but that's just the (n/2)th entry in the sorted list (or the average of (n/2) and ((n+1)/2) if there are an even number of entries) -- I'd also like to get an idea of the shape of the curve (kurtosis: +ve or -ve?) as well as the size of the standard deviation.

The other thought that occurred to me was wondering about what kind of groups we'd get if we did some kind of nearest-neighbour exercise based on a mix of age and distance. Try for different sized groups, also find the most isolated monks .. the possiblities for wasting time are almost endless.

Of course I've seen the quote. Didn't realize that brother Ozymandias wrote that -- a very cool name, and I thought of the Shelley poem as soon as I saw the name. Fourteen lines of bitter irony .. 'Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair!' .. quite brilliant.

And it was Shelley's wife who wrote Dr. Frankenstein .. I wonder if there was any thematic crossover there at all.
