asarih has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:
Did all the PAUSE admins go on vacation at once? New users are added, but no new modules seem to be approved since August 15. There are 17 new proposals since then. Does that mean these 17 modules are all denied? (I ask because I submitted one proposal.)

The PAUSE machine was belly-up for a few days (by some reports, it was overfull disks thanks to the SOBIG.F worm). It's flowing again, as of a few hours ago... many many new modules now on my disk!

To add to what merlyn said in •Re: What's up with PAUSE? from personal experience: if you uploaded modules between the time that PAUSE was allowing uploads again, and between the time it all started working again, you may need to repair your uploads before your distributions are actually getting processed again.

Thanks for the tip. My module is not yet ready for public consumption, so it's not uploaded yet. :)

Nope, it means they're accepted! Contrary to my (and probably most people's) intuition, not getting a response from the modules list in a timely manner is an indication that your module is approved. Check out the details here: http://www.cpan.org/modules/04pause.html#namespace. The relevent section reads:
The module list maintainers themselves are mostly lurkers. You need not wait for a response. Generally a lack of response can be taken as acceptance of the module name being proposed.

You can find this detail, and a lot more information about CPAN and PAUSE, in my book.

Yes, I read that bit. However, I can't edit the metadata yet (via PAUSE)--not that I need to. I guess I'll just wait.

Where can you see what modules were proposed...? | [reply] |
