QWK Packet Manipulation

I use the following to manipulate QWK packets:

perl -i -npe 's/^\s+//' filename

For the BBS-impaired, a good article detailing a QWK packet can be found here.

Wow! I didn't even realize anybody was still using QWK with Usenet and the Internet itself being so prevalent. That takes me back quite a few years. :)

There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling now.

Heh, heh, I guess I'm showing my age. Yes, the BBS community is alive and well. Tradewars is still about as popular as ever...

My personal favorite BBS is Wasteland. Pistolgrip (sysop) lives nearby and runs a great show. He puts a great deal of effort into his system. You can access it at wasteland-bbs.com via telnet or HTTP.

Also, I discovered that MultiMail is about the best reader available these days. It's available for *nix and W32.

Finally, Synchronet has been released for *BSD and Linux. It's probably the best BBS software out there and the CVS repository is updated daily.

UPDATE: Wasteland has been unreachable for the past two days. I suspect the sysop is travelling for business purposes and has no facility to remote in.
