    Catching Monkeys!

Make a small hole, empty it out, put in a banana. Monkey grabs banana but can't get hand out. Won't let go.

    Instant Monkey!

    ;)
      After which I assume you use the monkey as a catapult test payload? {sick, evil grin}

      Catapult test payloads

Are you nuts?!?? That is what cows are for!

I prefer catapult testing with lawyers: fewer PETA demonstrators and much more applause.

      Catapults good. Trebuchets better.

"Catapult" is a general term that covers many types of mideval seige weapons, including trebs, managols, and onagers.

I was really expecting an option related to patch pumpkins

UPDATE: I have realised that „Task ownership baton“ is refering exactly to the patch pumpkin. That's a pretty complicated wording for me, who is not a native English speaker ;-)

Huh. I didn't even see that in the list until you pointed it out. My first thought was for a patch pumpkin as well, but my eyes were almost immediately drawn to the catapult test payload...

Pumpkin soup with body parts: the cannibalistic origins of "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater". (A Mother Goose rhyme all too appropriate for the season.)

        "My two cents aren't worth a dime.";

Being a vegetarian I like my pumpkin soup completely free of "body parts" :-) I'ts not an extensive search but I looked at the first 50 hits on google for origins of peter peter pumpkin eater and found no reference to cannibalism...

And all this time I thought pumpkins were grown for pumpkin seeds. But that has me wondering which came first, the pumpkin or the seed? Or even "why did the pumpkin cross the road?" (I think it was to avoid being a catapult payload)

Either that or it failed to avoid being a catapult payload... WHOOSH!

Of course we can't forget about pumpkin beer.

I personally am not a great fan of pumpkin beer and think the stuff wretched. I only include it for reference sake

I did actually have the misfortune to try pumpkin beer once. I can honestly say it was one of the worst things I have ever tasted :-)

        -- vek --
Thanks for the heads up. I was considering buying a bunch of this, just in case I liked it. I will, however, proceed with caution.
Mmm...pumpkin beer...I am not normally a fan of spiced beers, but the pumpkin variety is goodly. I can also recommend, if you can find one, a maple nut brown ale. Very, very tasty.

I went for the pie filling but was very tempted to say "catapult test payload" (Who are we firing them at anyway? :-)

I went for the catapult test payload although I was tempted to choose "task ownership batons" (we used to call them "tarbabies"). I would assume since it's just testing that we'll fire them in some neutral direction.. Heh. The definition of neutral can be left to the next poll.

      Early November polls!

It's about time to launch a Christmas poll, such as:

What would you like to get for Christmas?

      • A RAM expansion
      • A bigger HD
      • A faster CPU
      • More CPUs
      • A better programming language
      • Better understanding of existing programming languages
      • Better understanding from my wife
      • More Artificial Intelligence, so the computer can do what I really want
      • More Natural Intelligence, so I can explain myself better.
      • Other.

      Stop the pumpkins campaign now!

More 'intelligence' from my wife, so I can figure out what she wants for Christmas!

        You've got some missing options:

        • My two front teeth
        • Perl 6
        • Raw hot animal sex
        • Sainthood

My favorite use to date: Mead =) I take a pumpkin pie recipe, subtract the eggs, milk, and sugar, then enough ingredients to make 2 pies, add 15 pounds of honey and about 4.5 gallons of water. Ferment for 9 months, bottle, let sit for 6mo. to a year. Enjoy! *hic*
