Well, there was enough response that I have gone ahead and created the Perlmonks Setiathome Group. Click on the link to to see the group and to join. Don't forget to quit your old groups :)
Cheers,
Ovid
The above link is faster, but this link contains "up-to-the-minute" information (but can take a while). | [reply] [Watch: Dir/Any] |

From this page, <A HREF=http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/cgi?cmd=team_join_form&id=86606, it seem like if you 'switch' groups, only your new credits go to the new group. It doesn't appear that I can 'move' my credits :-(
Anybody know how to move the credits ?

O.K. I've put my office machine on seti@home. I'll add the home machines in a little while. BTW, is anyone looking at doing stats analysis w/Perl? ; ) | [reply] [Watch: Dir/Any] |

I have no idea what units are, but I would be more than
happy to contribute - my dual proc 450 'puter would be
more than happy as well.

Count me in, although I only have about 100 units done currently. I've got a faster box and a cable modem now though, so they're coming faster ;) | [reply] [Watch: Dir/Any] |

When you change groups, do all your work-units go with you? Or just the new ones?
I've 408 units (and two machines) I can give...

From an e-mail that a friend sent:
When you change groups, all of your current credits are transfered to that group. If you remain a member of the old group as well, you also have the option of having only future credits go to the new group, or splitting all credits evenly between the groups.
He just switched groups, so I imagine that he's correct, but I have no idea of the accuracy of this information.
Also, I've had enough feedback that I tried to create the group and got a "Page cannot be displayed" error. In trying again, it said the group was already created. However, I believe you need a group ID to access it directly and I don't have that ID yet. Until the group lists are refreshed, I won't be able to post the URL, but I will do so as soon as I have the info.
Cheers,
Ovid

I just got a new pc on which I installed solaris 8 x86.
I don't do much with it so installed seti@home on it using
about 90% of my cpu power. I wanmt to know if there any cool
things I can do with perl and seti@home.

Uh, short answer: No. Setiathome is closed source app, so, short of storing your stats, there is nothing you can really do to interface Perl with setiathome, or vice versa. See Ovid's home node for an example of how to retrieve some relevant perlmonks data in a CGI script.
AgentM Systems nor Nasca Enterprises nor
Bone::Easy nor Macperl is responsible for the
comments made by
AgentM. Remember, you can build any logical system with NOR.
