( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I've tried to install WebAPP V1.0 SE, the free version from http://www.web-app.net/

It stinks! Very ancient perl style. eg embedded html, no sub parameter declarations, few comments on tricky regexs etc.

The install obviously never been not tested on a Unix box. File permissions AWOL, ^M terminating the #! /use/bin/perl line, no taint switches, self modifying code writes to perl .cgi scripts, renames .bin files to .zip then tries to unzip them. Stuff that gets unziped has directories which the setup tries to rename... Need I go on?

This bold claim from their website: "Thanks God Web-APP CMS is NOT made in PHP"... LOL It's a crackers paradise.

PHP is broken, but it takes something better than this to put perl back on the CMS map.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
