Alas! It was a dark and stormy night
When Bulwer-Lytton (not as yet a lord)
Began his nearly thirty books to write,
Convinced the pen is mightier than the sword.
And sad, too, the McArthur Wheeler case,
As he, of competence bereft, obtuse,
Prepared to rob a bank, only his face
Disguising with unheated lemon juice.
But it’s an ill wind, so they say, that blows
No good, and Wheeler’s folly sparks ignition
Of a Cornell research idea, that goes
On to elucidate metacognition.
So Dunning-Kruger on incompetence,
And the great novel of beloved Snoopy,
From dark beginnings grow. And maybe, hence,
Some gem of wisdom will from musings loopy,
Wandering, and inane as these, arise
To illuminate the path of monks to come?
Till then, GotToBTru, I’ll just surmise
That you’re another fan of Ogden Nash, whose lines occasionally run on and on and on, and then some.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
