If you're going to manually patch a distribution, you forego most of the automation that CPAN provides you and have to do the steps manually:
- Download and unpack the distribution. If in a hurry, you can let CPAN do that for you:
cpanm --look Devel::CallParser
or
cpan
CPAN> look Devel::CallParser
</li>
<li>Patch the distribution:
<c>
patch < rt110623.patch
- Test the distribution:
perl Makefile.PL
make
make test
- Install the distribution:
make install
- Keep a backup of the current directory, for the next installation
Update: Corrected invocations of tools, as spotted by ibm1620

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
