I think the most important thing is consistency. You can use whichever style is most appropriate, as long as you're consistent throughout your code.
Then when someone else is looking through your code they can get used to your style no matter how alien it is to them. It's like accents - you can very quickly adjust to someones accent when they speak, but if their accent were to change every 10 seconds, you'd get lost. Wow.
