( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
Since there doesn't seem to be much happening in the news section thesedays (I bet there are people here who don't even know we have one) how about opening it up for general posting? I can see a number of posts in other sections that would go much better there:

  • Announcements of code that are too big for the catacombs
  • A place for people to draw attention to new Apocalypses, etc (they have been going in meditations lately)
  • Parties, events and conferences that may be marginally related to perl
  • Other stuff that I'm not lively enough to think of

The moderation system seems to cope fairly well with posts in other sections and I'm sure that everyone in the community would have a fairly similar idea of what news would be appropriate

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
