Yeah, I'll confess...I don't write anything....I have a couple of "highschool hackers from Bangladesh", who I pay 10 cents per day. :-)

Seriously, one thing I have learned is to always set any code aside, and come back and test it a day or 2 later....it's surprising how you can get "too narrowly focussed" during a single coding session, and a few days later, your perspective changes.

Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
