Hello folks,
Our situation in New Orleans progresses slowly. We have gutted our home to the studs and are close to having electricity and gas in an upstairs apartment. Our plan is to move back to New Orleans after Christmas and start over from scratch. All of our surviving belongings fit in our cars which is freeing in a way. We will survive this and move on, and move back! My son's public school will be one of the 2 or three to open in January and we will be back for that one way or another. FEMA says there are only about 2500 folks ahead of us in line for a trailer. Some of you may recall my previous post News and Needs From New Orleans in which I asked for help with second hand O'Reilly books to replace the ones I lost in the flooding post-Katrina. Within minutes a very generous monk had offered to replace all of the O'Reillys and I had tears in my eyes. Thing is, he didn't and isn't responding to my emails over the last 2 months asking if he is planning to help still. I should add here that several other monks did send me some terrific books and I really truly appreciate that kindness. It means a lot to me and my family that so many people have opened their hearts and homes to us while we have been displaced. So... if anyone has a used old copy of any of these they would be willing to send me to help me get back on my programmatic feet I would be deeply grateful. Although the mailman does have to reach up to the slot now since the dang porch floated off and collapsed around the corner. ;-D Thanks very much for any help. jg _____________________________________________________ "Transport of the mails, transport of the human voice, transport of flickering pictures - in this century, as in others, our highest accomplishments still have the single aim of bringing people together."
