There's a module that almost does what I want, but it's buggy/broken That is often an opportunity to fix or extend. There was a nice active directory module that painlessly searched the tree and returned object names, but to do something with object you had to use the name and bind to it. Trivial to add methods that returned an object reference for direct use.

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
