First, know that HTML::Mason does NOT need to be run under mod_perl. It's a bit nicer if you can, but it's still wonderful if you have to run under CGI. I'm doing this with www.globalview-intl.com, which is hosted at www.korksoft.com.
Korksoft's hosting plans, by the way, are very reasonably priced, and they offer a lot of great stuff including Mason, MySQL, ssh access, and so on. They're also good about installing Perl modules at your request. Getting support can be slow, but it comes eventually and this drawback is outweighed by the rest.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
