Interesting, but if that logic were applied here, then you wouldn't even be able to log in, let alone post (just found that rather amusing).

Your wrong: there is no thumbing down, only thumbing up, Instead of being what 215+ below level 1 novice, and since there are people out there thumbing up comments I make (I see you thanks), I'd be a few levels up. But then I'm not actually a troll, a fact that the stupid legacy software running this site is incapable of determining without the ancient technology of hierarchy maintaining it.

Which means that ultimately they can't realistically be held accountable for their actions on the site.

Just who the fuck do you think you are talking about people being held accountable for actions? No seriously get the fuck off that high horse. Any action worthy of being held accountable for is covered in law, such as running a DDos, or hacking the site (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/08/03/perl_monks_password_hack/), everything else is either just chatter, banter or people being people and arguing with each other and disagreeing over things because no one has all the answers, no matter how much the pyramid behinds the scenes of this site encourages narccistic behaviour and beliefs.

A world where you can only heap praise on something, or be apathetic to it's existence, with no ability to say "no I think you're wrong, and in fact I disagree with you", sounds like hell IMHO.

You have every chance to say you disagree by typing in what your disagreement is, duh! If you agree with the comment and respect it's existance you click to say so, you can derive whatever statistics you need from the numbers generated, because it takes effort to click respect and if you don't you won't bother.

I find the fact that you find the idea of a system which has to be monitored and controlled by a hierarchy to be a heaven where one which is spontaneously self-maintaining and can be left alone for months with no problems to be a "hell", speaks volumes as to your character, for and on the public record apparently.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
