One word I haven't seen explicitly in previous posts is Fun. Of course, the joy of using a programming language can stem from its flexibility, expressiveness, community, availability of "3rd party" modules (CPAN), etc, etc.

I use Perl for practically anything (but still keeping in mind the "Right tool for the job"), and I'm having a lot of fun in the process.
