Node Status & Approval nodelets

I have both the node status and approval nodelets enabled. However the only reason I have node status enabled is to see the 'node type', everything else is duplicated on the approval nodelet.

Any chance of getting the node type information added to the approval nodelet too?

Replies are listed 'Best First'.
Re: Add node type to Approval nodelets? (elsewhere)

Why should only level 6 be able to easily see the node type?

It seemed like every time someone added a nodelet, they had it display node ID number and node type. Both of these should be displayed under the node title, perhaps similar to how super search does it (and removed from most of the nodelets). The node ID should be a link to the current node to aid in tasks like bookmarking after voting etc.

They shouldn't. I said "added" not "moved from" :-)

This sounds like an excellent idea.

Sorry, I was temporarily thinking that Node Status was only for Level 6 and up because it is about approval. Silly me.

You could do what I do and put the nodetype in your custom node title definition in User Settings.

Good thought and now done. I'd still prefer to have it somewhere on the main page though as tye suggested.

I stuck it in the title stuff as suggested by tye in his reply below. I also let anybody see it. Enjoy.

    alter ego of demerphq

The name of the author the parent of this node was originally flux8 however this title has been changed to de-merphq so its more obvious who that account is for. This node has been created so that any symbolic links to flux8 still work.

Sorry for the noise, but this was causing confusion for some and as such changing the name made the most sense.

Node Status nodelet shown intermittently despite being deactivated
by mhi (Friar) on Jun 07, 2004 at 08:52 UTC
I'm not sure exactly who changed what and whether the followoing is a newly intoduced bug or an old one...

I had set the Node Status nodelet to be shown and have since deactivated it (set to 0) after demerphq did his thing++.

The results of the deactivation are mixed: most of the time the Node Status nodelet is not displayed, but when I follow a link from the Node Navigator nodelet the resulting page seems always to be shown including the Node Status nodelet.

If I can pin down the occurrences more exactly, I'll update this node. Ideas for a fix, anyone?

    Update:
tye++ just said on the CB:
"the node status nodelet isn't optional. if you don't tell it where to display, it picks where to display. it shows consideration reason, which people shouldn't ignore"
"(but it doesn't display on nodes that can't be considered)"
"(and if you pick the approval nodelet, then node status doesn't insist on being displayed)"
"but, if we remove the now-duplicate info, it probably will display less often".

    Well, that explains it.

    Update:
Is there actually any documentation on what exactly the Node Status nodelet does? I haven't found any yet...
