piyush.shourie has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Fellow Monks,

I need your advice on digitally signing the XML document.
There can be 2 scenarios of signing the XML doc:

1. Digitally sign the whole doc
2. Sign only selective components of the XML

In case we need to sign the whole doc, we may use Crypt::OpenPGP module.

However, the problem lies in signing the XML document selectively. Please suggest some way to do this.

There is an interesting project going on at the Victorian public record office in Australia. It's called the Victorian Electronic Records Strategy (VERS) standard. It's a very flexible format supporting all sorts of digital signing. The official website is here http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/vers/vers/default.htm.
