For most of my life, I was engaged in uncertainty as to how I would pursue a career. I always possessed technological proclivities, nevertheless, I was adrift amid a vast sea of choices, where not one direction could be distinguished from the other. I feared indifference taking hold of me and relegating me to inaction for the more part of my life.

Yet, by chance, I ended up in a class inappropriately named Telecommunications, in which we studied basic and deprecated facets of HTML (I had decided to abandon a course entitled N+, for I knew that I wouldn't be certified. Major alteration of my schedule was also imminent). I had arrived in this class a week after it started, and thinking that I was behind, I decided to read, briefly, a random HTML tutorial. To my surprise, I couldn't stop reading and progressed to the end of the tutorial within hours. It was already dark and I hadn't started any homework, but I didn't care. However, I began to practice with my new found knowledge. After minor errors, I found it amazing how fast I understood the code. Indeed, I returned to that site every day after school for two weeks. I had learned more than what would be taught for the rest of the year.

Now, with steadfast certainty, I have decided to become a Web developer. Most facets of this wondrous and diverse field attract my interest, and to many of which I have spent much time researching on my own. The particular interests that I have in Web development, and/or with which I am proficient are: programming (being my favorite), accessibility/usability (I'm a fan of Dr. Jakob Nielsen. I, myself, am a big proponent of Web standards), graphics design, and editing/writing content. I am probably least knowledgeable in SEO (Search Engine Optimization), mainly because I am not ready to promote my site on any wide scale, because it is not near completion.
