mozilla firefox search.cpan.org plugin

Hi, Mozilla can be extended with infinitely many search engines .

I added search.cpan.org as one and emailed the zip file to the author, how it may be weeks before it hits his repository. As a result, it is available at my sitefor a few weeks.

Here are manual install instructions for each OS.

Enjoy!

    There is already a cpan search plugin in the standard mozilla/firefox plugin repository - complete with automatic install.

    Go to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/ and search for cpan.

    Also note that there are a few perlmonks search plugins, but none are on mozdev.org (I submitted mine ages ago - dunno what happened).

    There is a single-click install available anway - refer node 399904

    For an alternative, see here.

    Basically, once you have the bookmark set up, you can just hit F6 to jump to the URL field, and enter, e.g.,

    cpan lwp::simple

    (I have a keyboard-command bias, so this is my preference over choosing cpan from a pulldown menu.)

    I'm confused. I've had a CPAN search engine plugin for Firefox for a long time. I even got it fro the site that you mention in your post. How is yours different?

      err... what is the URL?
        Couldn't tell you, but if you go to the site that you specified initially, type "CPAN" in the "Site Name" text field, and hit the "Find Search Plugins", it comes up.

    I looked under programming languages and did not see a CPAN plugin. That is why I wrote mine... I wonder how he has it categorized... oh well thanks for the heads up
