Sports results web service

svetho has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Does anyone know if there exists a web service that provides sports results that I can query with a script (I'm really not that much of a Perl guru yet, but I do have some experience with the Amazon web services). In particular, I'd like to access fixtures and standings from the Rugby Super League. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, i.e. if all else fails I could still try and parse some html code from a sports site. Since sports results mostly come in html tables, can somebody give me advice on how to parse tables? Thanks in advance

You might also consider HTML::TableExtract, which is somewhat more complicated, but also (as far as I can tell from skimming the TableContentParser POD) appears substantially more powerful than HTML::TableContentParser (in that it handles nested tables, for instance). It's also actively maintained, which TableContentParser does not appear to be.

Thanks for the tip. I couldn't find any Super League related content on the livescore site but I think HTML::TableContentParser will come in handy.
