Why do you want to replace a great webmailer like squirrelmail? It's php but it's solid - even Apple use it: http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/mail_services.html. Alternatively you can take a look on the hula project: http://www.hula-project.org/Hula_Server - it's fast growing based on Novells Netmail.

    I am just curious to see if there's something similar.

    I use Squirrelmail all the time, but I have never seen a Perl equivalent.

    That doesn't mean I'd necessarily switch.
