This makes sense to me, although I don't know if I would choose "demigod". I don't think that it is super important, but it would be a fun thing to do. Maybe the names of the new levels should be picked via a poll at the Gates. You can still see who is ranked the highest (no matter what name they have attached to them in the PM Stats Page.

merlyn, I believe, suggested the order of angels... Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels and Angels. Seraphim would be the highest. (Others argue that the wrod angel refers to the whole list and that "The Archangel" is Michael and is the greatest of the Seraphim.

Sure am I glad I spent my hard-earned money on that comparative religions course. =)

Update: this is a heck of a list I just found: Angels I'm glad _I_ don't have that much time...

Personally, I wouldn't want levels to be named directly after "Angels". To me, for some reason, this place has a mix of Buddhist and Christian overtones by various level names, and sections of the Monestary. I hope this was an intent, and I am not the only one who sees it :) But, if you start higher levels by being names of "Angels", you really make it a Perl Monestary whose highest members are Christian Angels. I would rather have added level names not be religion specific. I'm just funny about that kind of thing :)

Actually, this brings up another idea. Maybe we could choose our level path. Level systems (all sharing the same XP systems) could be made for other religions, or themes (Buddhist, Catholic, ..insert religion here.., Medieval, D&D, whatever).

      Cheers,
      KM

Or make your own path! Everyone could have a custom one.
        Legion Path
1: Grow Armhair Lad 2: Flat Lad 3: Bouncing Boy 4: Light Lass 5: Lightning Lad 6: Cosmic Boy 7: Wildfire 8: Ultra Boy 9: Element Lad 10: Mon-El
        Hmm. Maybe not.

        LOKI-Sark!!!..
Oops, sorry..been playing too much Rune (runegame.com) today I guess. Spare time on Saturday usually makes me code lots of Perl or play games for 10+ hours straight. I love wasting time this way!

Your path idea sounds swell..Perhaps a bit too Role-play-esque, but great nevertheless. On the other hand, my Demigod suggestion doesn't hint to any given religion. (It's banning Christian/Islam/Jewishreligion because there is only one god, but they're exceptions.)

I do agree with you about the Buddhist thing, I thought the Monastery was rather Buddhism-inspired. But that's probably because I'm using the red theme =]

        "Let's not include text here.."
Personally, I don't think that anything specific to a particular sect would work unless you mix them such as having a christian level then a buddhist level then pagan and so on....

There shouldn't be any particular order to them so that we could ensure that we're not giving preference to any....

Just my two cents worth. :-)

Maybe the best way to resolve this is to use the voting booth. We could be presented with several options and choose the one that we prefer.

        Ooooh....

I like that idea. It does add sort of a role-play-ish feel to the proceedings, but I think that wold be a good thing. I'm sure I'm not the only monk here who makes use of PM as a form of escapism. You could pick a path in user prefs, change it if you get bored, or whatever. Might be sorta cool to combine it with the Style Sheet idea I've been reading about, or the PM style sheet proxy.

        I'd vote ++ for that.
